GUWAHATI: Dense fog at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati caused 18 flight delays on Thursday, January 23. The poor visibility made it hard for air traffic to operate, as a result of which, the airport authorities were compelled to take the necessary action.
To help the passengers, LGBI Airport has added more staff in the terminal for support. Additionally, seating and drinking water facilities have also been provided to make waiting more comfortable. Passengers are asked to check with their airlines for updated flight schedules before going to the airport.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, dense fog across Assam affected surface and air communication on January 3, which led to the cancellation of 16 flights at LGBI Airport in Guwahati. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a warning in January of dense fog which occurred at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura for the next few days.
Foggy conditions persisted until around 11 am on January 3. Flights to and from LGBI Airport in Guwahati were affected in the morning hours, with a few flights delayed and cancelled.
