TANGLA: The ‘Lil Bahadur Chettri Foundation’ Trust has nominated Khadga Bahadur Kaushik of Tezpur for the 1st Lil Bahadur Chettri Literary Award, 2023. The literary journey of Khadga Bahadur Kaushik started with poetry and his books of essays have also been published but his works received recognisation as a story-writer in Nepali language. He has gifted three collection of stories to the Nepali literature namely ‘Rimalni Ghat (2002), Hengdang (2018) and Bigyapan (2023).
“Kaushik’s stories are read in various university courses and his stories have been translated into other Indian languages as well. A regional realistic story-writer, Kaushik’s stories are short and symbolic. He has a unique skill and style of writing stories. The economic and social situation of Assam, the unity and coordination between different castes, the clash of ancient beliefs with science and technology, the historical events, the conflict between two generations, etc. have been narrated with a beautiful skill,” said senior journalist Rewati Raman Sapkota. For his prolonged contribution to fiction and appraising the quality of his three stories, the panel of litterateurs appointed for the purpose, unanimously recommended the name of Kaushik for the prestigious ‘Lil Bahadur Chettri Literary Award,’ .
Kaushik would be presented this award in an international literary event at the hotel Prag Continental at Guwahati on December 7 where Padmashree Prof Lil Bahadur Chettri would be honoured by an US based Bhutanese literary organisation ‘Swikarokti’. Pertinently,the trust is formed with the goodwill of Padmashree Prof. Lil Bahadur Chetry to encourage the literary talents of Nepali literature irrespective of any territorial variance. The award carries a cash of Rs.25,000, a citation and a shawl.
