Assam: 76th Republic Day Celebrated with Unity and Patriotism in Dhubri and Kokrajhar

Assam marked the 76th Republic Day with grand celebrations in Dhubri and Kokrajhar, featuring flag hoisting ceremonies and student marches, reflecting the state's unity and patriotism.

DHUBRI: Dhubri celebrated the 76th Republic Day with a big event at the Dhubri Raja Prabhat Chandra Barua Playground, honoring the sacrifices of those who fought for India's freedom. Students from different schools joined a march to mark the occasion.

At 9 am, Dhubri District Commissioner Dibakar Nath raised the national flag, and police, paramilitary forces, and other groups saluted it. The event showed strong unity and pride among the people.

In Kokrajhar, the day was enthusiastically honored. The Kokrajhar Government Higher Secondary and Multipurpose Ground served as the venue for the district administration's main event. At nine in the morning, BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro celebrated the spirit of the Republic by raising the national flag.

Both events reflected the patriotism and unity of Assam’s people, who came together to honor the nation's democratic heritage.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Thana Chariali as part of the 76th Republic Day celebrations in Dibrugarh, marking a historic first. It was the first time Dibrugarh hosted such a major event, and the main event took place at Khanikar Ground.

Along with other dignitaries, CM Sarma paid homage to the Father of the Nation, representing the fundamental principles of democracy, freedom, and unity. In his remarks, the Chief Minister underlined how crucial it is to uphold Mahatma Gandhi's principles of harmony and peace in the present era.
