Assam: 79th annual conference of Arun Library held in Sootea

The 79th Annual Conference of Arun Library, one of the oldest libraries in Sootea, was held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Lohit Bhuyan.

JAMUGURIHAT: The 79th Annual Conference of Arun Library, one of the oldest libraries of the greater Sootea located at Bara Bhuyan village, was held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Lohit Bhuyan. Two poetry books composed by Jadab Bora ‘Enlightenment’ in English and ‘Antahin Madhur Bhabonare Mur Monor Anubhab’ in Assamese were released by eminent litterateur Indra Prasad Saikia and historian Karunananda Hatibaruah. The meeting was addressed by Professor Dr Ashok Kumar Bora, retired head of the Department of Geography, Gauhati University, as an appointed speaker.

The 79th session also felicitated Gopal Krishna Goswami, a prominent satriya artiste of the village, who received the Bishnu Rabha award in 2023 and Mrinal Goswami, an actor, playwright, director, writer and organizer, who received the district level best teachers award last year.

The meeting was also addressed by Dr Sarumai Saikia, Renu Saikia, Lili Bhuyan, Ramen Bora, and Dr Dilip Kumar Bhuyan and the programme was moderated by Rajiv Bhuyan.
