KOKRAJHAR: The All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU) today expressed grave concern over the poor ranking of BTC districts in the Gunotsav results.
President of ABSU Dipen Boro said that the results of Gunotsav 2024-25, declared on Tuesday, showed that the BTC districts got extremely pathetic rankings with serial No. 28, 29, 30, and 31 of Udalguri, Baksa, Chirang, and Kokrajhar respectively. He also said that Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts took the position of 32 and 33 respectively while Dima Hasao was ranked 26, and that the present educational scenario in the 6th schedule areas was highly concerning and alarming.
Boro said that in his observation and minute assessment in BTR, the poor results could be due to lack of officials of IS, DEEO in Udalguri, Baksa, and Kokrajhar since the last one year, lack of teachers’ appointment and single-teacher schools in LP, UP, lack of Mathematics and Science teachers and insufficient graduate teachers in high/higher secondary schools, irregularity of teachers in school, poor attendance of the students, lack of quality teaching and proper assessment in class rooms, lack of field visit and proper supervision by BEEO, School Inspector who engaged in official work only instead of academic action, lack of government policy to improve quality education, and zero interest of the government local bodies in building educational environment. He also said that they had been facing all these issues since the last decade while working on Mission Quality Education to improve quality education in Bodo medium along with other mother tongue mediums in the region.
