KOKRAJHAR: The All-Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on Sunday expressed its willingness to send 10,000 Bodo youths to border areas to defend the country as civil volunteers. In their statement, the President of ABSU Dipen Boro and General Secretary Khanindra Basumatary said, “Taking into account the national interest at this emergency-like-situation due to ongoing tense and war-like situation between India and Pakistan post the Pahalgam terrorist attack and cross border terrorism from Pakistan, the All-Bodo Students Union has decided to postpone its delegate sitting scheduled on May 12 at Bodoland University until further notice. At this crucial time, the ABSU stands with the nation and is always ready to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the nation.”
“ABSU is always with the decision of the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister and we extend our full support and solidarity with all the three Armed Forces of India. Further, we express deep concern towards the nation’s security and humanitarian issues at the war-induced parts of India. When necessary and whenever the nation calls, ABSU is willing to send 10,000 Bodo youths as civilian volunteers for any assistance at the Indo-Pak border to protect the nation after proper training in the hour of need”, they said, adding that it was well-known fact that during 1999 at the time of Kargil war, the Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) and ABSU leaders while engaging in peace talks ahead of BTC Accord had offered 2,000 Bodo youths to the then Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led Union Government to join the fight in the Kargil war to safeguard the nation.
