Assam: APCU celebrates 32nd foundation day at Dhekiajuli Press Club

The APCU celebrated its 32nd Foundation Day with a program at Dhekiajuli Press Club, organized by the Sonitpur District Committee.

DHEKIAJULI: The Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (APCU), established in 1993 with the vision of strengthening grassroots journalism across Assam, celebrated its 32nd Foundation Day today with a dignified programme at the Dhekiajuli Press Club, organized by the Sonitpur District Committee of APCU. The union, founded under the leadership of Late Bhabesh Saikia as its founding president and Late Bhabesh Baruah as the founding secretary, has played a pivotal role in shaping the voice of local correspondents across the state. The day’s proceedings commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the APCU flag by Narayan Phayel, President of the APCU Sonitpur District Committee, marking the formal opening of the celebration. This was followed by a solemn tribute event where Bimaljyoti Nath, Executive President of the Dhekiajuli Press Club, and Boga Tapno, Secretary of the APCU Sonitpur District Committee, paid heartfelt homage to the late founders, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the journalistic community of Assam. A special felicitation programme was also held to honour two distinguished personalities of Dhekiajuli for their outstanding service to society.
