SILCHAR: A major accident took place on the Silchar-Aizawl National Highway (NH-306) in Saptagram, leaving one person severely injured. A speeding car collided with a motorcycle, causing the rider to fall on the road.
Local residents rushed to help and quickly took the injured motorcyclist to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. In the aftermath, an angry mob began vandalizing vehicles, further escalating the situation. The police were alerted and arrived promptly, managing to control the unrest and restore normalcy to the area.
Meanwhile, a man lost his life in a road accident in Jagiroad on Sunday night. Ankur Deuri, a motorcyclist, was severely injured after being struck by an unidentified vehicle at Tarangapar. He was immediately taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries. Ankur, a railway employee, was from Bangalbari Village No. 1 in Baghjap, under the Jagiroad Police Station area.
Another tragic road accident occurred on Sunday on the Nahat-Rajabari road near Demow, resulting in one death. An EECO car (AS 04 AH 2844) lost control and crashed into a culvert while heading towards Demow.
Eight passengers sustained minor injuries, but a minor was critically injured with head trauma. Locals quickly took the injured to Demow Model Hospital, where the minor was later declared dead by doctors. The Nitaipukhuri Police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the accident and any potential negligence involved.
