Boko: Ahead of the 76th Republic Day, the Boko Revenue Circle Office under Kamrup district administration organized a public meeting to discuss the planning for the celebration of the Republic Day. To conduct the function of Republic Day smoothly a committee was formed with Boko Revenue Circle Officer Dibash Bordoloi as president and Manoranjan Kalita as secretary. The committee determined that on Republic Day, those who achieved success in other fields within the Boko area through their own efforts would also receive felicitations, in addition to the Boko students who passed the APSC.

The meeting decided that employees of all government offices located in Boko should be present at the Republic Day celebration at Boko Gandhi Maidan. Concern was expressed by several during the public meeting that was conducted on the grounds of the Boko Circle Officers since no official from certain government departments was present. People said that it seems like an insult to the people of Boko and the nation as well, therefore people who attended the meeting urged the Circle Officer to issue notices against those government officials who have not attended the preparatory meeting for Republic Day. The meeting was presided over by the Principal of Jawaharlal Nehru College Boko Dr. Tapan Dutta. Members from various organisations including Boko Press Club, Bogai-cultural and Sports organisation, principals from various schools and many other persons took part in the meeting. The meeting decided that cultural programmes, parades and other activities will be performed in the Republic Day celebration.
