Assam: Book Reading Competition held at Numaligarh

With the aim of encouraging reading habits, Bodhidrum Study Circle of Numaligarh organized an open book reading competition on Sunday.

BOKAKHAT: With the aim of encouraging reading habits, Bodhidrum Study Circle of Numaligarh organized an open book reading competition on Sunday. The event was held at the auditorium of Numaligarh Higher Secondary School. Participants were given the option to read and select any one of the following three books: Mor Eti Sopun Ase (Author: Rubul Mout), Numaligarh Aru Deopahar (Author: Mahen Shaikia), and Asomar Durlabh Jaibaoichitrya (Author: Mousumi Gogoi).

In this unique initiative to promote reading, members of the Bodhidrum Study Circle inaugurated the competition with a chorus. At the beginning of the event, retired professor Ram Bordoloi from Dergaon Kamal Duwara College, retired professor Gopikananda Saikia from Bokakhat JDSG, and noted poet and journalist Ajanta Talukdar delivered their words of encouragement. The welcome speech was given by Sangeeta Saikia Rabha, President of the Bodhidrum Study Circle and the programme was hosted by Mousumi Gogoi, Secretary of the study circle. In the competition, Khanindra Barman secured the first position, Jonak Priya Khargaria came second, and Kangkana Sharma bagged the third position. Encouragement awards were given to Rani Bordoloi and Biswajit Baruah.
