Bokakhat: With the heartfelt spirit of welcoming Rongali Bihu — the soul of Assamese culture — various events were organized on Saturday at Bordihingia Lower Primary School.

The programme titled “Welcoming Rongali” was jointly celebrated by Bordihingia Lower Primary School and its neighbouring school, 5 No. Bachapathar Primary School. The event was initiated under the leadership of the head teacher of Bordihingia Lower Primary School, Mohen Doley.

The programme began with a traditional welcome as teachers from the neighbouring school were greeted with phulam gamosas. Following this, several activities such as Bihuwa and Bihuwati competitions, a Bihu-themed quiz, and a traditional pitha-making competition were held among the students of both schools.

Additionally, the final results of a 100-word essay competition on the topic “Bordihingia Village”, written by the school’s youngest students (referred to as Maina-Maini), were announced.

Notably, Mohen Saikia, the recently retired Principal of Numaligarh Higher Secondary School, presented prizes to the winners of the competitions. To encourage participation among all students, colourful pencils were distributed as consolation prizes.
