SILCHAR: Cachar Police finally arrested Ganga Ganju, the alleged kingpin of the human trafficking racket from her residence at Gumra in Kalain. Ganga was absconding since two local minor girls were rescued from remote villages in Rajasthan. Another prime accused of the gang Rupali Dutta, who too was absconding, was recently arrested from Telangana.
Cachar Police received an input that Ganga Ganju had taken shelter at a village in Meghalaya. Gumra Police deployed its informers in the area. Sensing that the situation was now normal, Ganga recently returned to her home at Batulmara, a small village under Gumra Police Outpost. And finally, police raided the house and arrested her.
Recently Cachar Police received a complaint from the tea garden area in Kalain that two minor girls were missing. Upon investigation, police sensed that the girls had fallen prey to an inter-state human trafficking racket. Few more reports were received where young girls from the Sribhumi and Dharmanagar area of neighbouring Tripura were missing. The gang lured the girls belonging to poor families with the promise of jobs and then sold them to pimps.
