Assam: Capacity Building Activities at Tolaram Bafna Civil Hospital

RANGIA: To achieve the desired goal of Maternal and Child health, Tolaram Bafna Civil Hospital, Amingaon, Kamrup embarked upon capacity building activities of health professionals of the district for the financial year ended on March 31.

Under the leadership of Superintendent of the Hospital and guided by District Health Society and District NHM team, training of Comprehensive Abortion Care was provided for Doctors and Nursing Professionals to reduce maternal deaths due to unsafe abortion. Likewise, to cater to the unmet need of family planning, different training modules like Intrauterine Contraceptive device training for Staff Nurse and CHO, Post Abortion Family Planning Method, Modules for Injectable Contraceptives and Medical Method of Abortion for Staff Nurse and MO were provided. Newer training programmes, envisaged by the then joint director of health service Dr Mahotosh Benerjee to improve the service delivery system for pregnant and parturient women, were also started for the MO and Staff Nurse engaged in labour room, like Dakshata and Skilled Birth Attendant Training, which are crucial for quality certification like LaQshya or NQAS. Another new training programme for medical officers and CHOs was concluded recently in relation to reproductive tract and sexually transmitted infection, to improve the reproductive and sexual health of the community.
