SEOUL: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is on a five-day official visit to South Korea and Japan, during which he participated in the Advantage Assam 2.0 roadshow in Seoul. He had a productive meeting with key figures from South Korea's automobile ancillary sector, and Kyungsung Kang, President, and Eunyoung Yang, Director General of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), emphasizing the state's commitment to supporting their establishment in Assam.
Sarma highlighted Assam's strategic position, offering seamless access to India's burgeoning $100 billion auto industry and the Southeast Asian market. He stated, "Assam is emerging as a vibrant investment destination," and expressed admiration for Korea's advancements in manufacturing.
The Chief Minister announced that the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment Conclave is set for February 25 and 26 in Guwahati, featuring participation from major Indian industrial players, including TATA.
He invited the Korean industries and assured them that the state would make facilitation for collaboration with Indian companies during the conclave. Sarma's visit is centered upon inviting investments in Assam in infrastructure, electronics, aerospace, renewable energy, and tourism. The roadshow in Seoul follows recent promotional events in Bhutan, and further outreach in Singapore, Dubai, London, and Bangkok are planned to showcase the investment potential of Assam.
