Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed the state police department to restrict its officers from using their Personal Security Officers (PSOs) for personal or household work.
According to reports, in his direction, the chief minister has clearly stated that an FIR would be lodged against those police officers, who failed to maintain the said directive.
In this regard, Sarma has asked the state Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta to enforce the directive immediately.
In addition to this, as per the directive, Superintendent of Police (SPs) of all the districts in the state will have to submit an undertaking mentioning that battalion personnel posted for field duty are not attached with any officer for PSO, home guards, and static guards, or any other household duties.
Reports further claimed that as per the directives, commandants of all battalions have to give one undertaking that no personnel from the battalion are attached with an officer without permission from the competent authority.
