SEOUL: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is currently on a five-day visit to South Korea and Japan, where he addressed the Advantage Assam 2.0 roadshow in Seoul. CM Sarma held a productive discussion in Seoul with Kyungsung Kang, President, Eunyoung Yang, Director General, Hanseung Kim, Director and other delegates from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

Addressing the gathering, Sarma said Assam was emerging as a vibrant investment destination, "We respect Korea's remarkable development and strength in manufacturing." Today, we are here in the Republic of Korea to invite industries to collaborate with us."

The Chief Minister announced that the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment Conclave is scheduled for February 25 and 26 in Guwahati, with participation from prominent Indian industrial houses, including TATA and other major players already operating in Assam.

He extended an invitation to Korean industries, asserting, "If any Korean industry wishes to collaborate with Indian companies, we will facilitate these partnerships during the conclave. India's industrial houses are ready to develop the Northeast region, and there will be significant opportunities for collaboration."

The visit to Seoul is a part of the wider move to introduce investors into Assam ahead of the summit. Sarma has promoted the state as an investment destination in the spheres of infrastructure, electronics, aerospace, renewable energy, and tourism.

The Seoul roadshow follows a string of promotional events recently in Bhutan, and Chief Minister Sarma is to visit Singapore, which has been one of the significant partners since the first Advantage Assam summit way back in 2018. At the same time, his cabinet ministers are actively scheduled to organize roadshows in major cities like Dubai, London, and Bangkok to demonstrate the investment potential in Assam.
