GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya released two books by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Diary (Part 3) and Collection of Speeches (Part 3) on Thursday, at a ceremony in Guwahati.

Governor Acharya praised the books as important contributions to the state's progress, calling them valuable resources for future generations. He expressed admiration for Sarma, acknowledging him not only as an experienced politician but also as a respected writer. Acharya also shared that the books had inspired him to learn the Assamese language.

The Governor emphasized that many people view politicians as too occupied to write, making Sarma’s Diary especially remarkable. He urged the youth to be inspired by the Chief Minister’s commitment to documenting his experiences despite his hectic schedule.

Acharya also commended Sarma’s leadership in driving Assam’s progress in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Vikas (development) and Virasat (heritage).

Speaking at the event, CM Sarma explained that both books highlight the state government’s approach to governance and development over the past year, rather than personal reflections. He noted that the Diary serves as a valuable resource for future research, documenting significant events such as the peace agreement with pro-talk ULFA and the state’s delimitation process.

Sarma also spoke about Collection of Speeches (Part 3), which highlights the contributions of key individuals and communities to Assam’s development. Despite challenges such as insurgency, migration, and floods, he reaffirmed his dedication to building a prosperous future for Assam, with a particular focus on the next generation.

The third volume of the Collection of Speeches features 70 speeches delivered by Sarma over the past year and is part of an annual publication series that has been ongoing since he assumed office in 2021.
