DIBRUGARH: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Aanandalaya Bhawan, the new regional headquarters of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari in Dibrugarh today. The event was attended by state Power Minister and Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan, Tea Tribes Welfare Minister Rupesh Gowala, Rajya Sabha MP Rameswar Teli, and former Union Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar, among others.
During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Sarma highlighted the significance of Swami Vivekananda’s life, ideology, and contributions to society. He spoke about the importance of the Aanandalaya Bhawan and Vivekananda Kendra and their role in uplifting the tea tribe and tribal communities in Assam.
“Vivekananda Kendra has been working for the upliftment of the tea tribes and tribal communities of Assam. It focuses on value-based education and holistic rural development which are essential for the socio-economic upliftment of the region,” the Chief Minister said.
He added that the Aanandalaya Bhawan stands as a beacon of hope for the tea tribe and tribal communities in Assam, offering a platform for growth, empowerment, and development.
The Aanandalaya Bhawan is designed to be a hub for Vivekananda Kendra’s initiatives in the North-East, focusing on value-based education, skill development, and holistic rural development. It aims to empower communities through various programs such as creating joyful learning centers for children in underserved areas, promoting employability and self-reliance among youth through skill development programs, instilling moral values and patriotism through value-based education, raising awareness on hygiene and nutrition through health campaigns, and enhancing rural livelihoods through holistic village development programs.
One of the key initiatives launched at the event was Project Ekalavya, which aims to provide vocational training and livelihood opportunities to unemployed youth from tea garden communities. This initiative aligns with Vivekananda Kendra’s mission to uplift marginalised groups across Assam and the North-East region.
