GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, pledged his government's support to empower women as they move forward to achieve their dreams.
Taking to his official X handle, the Assam chief minister extended greetings to the women across the state, describing them as "strong, enterprising, and trailblazers."
Sarma wrote, "Assam's women—strong, enterprising, and trailblazers! In every sphere, our Nari Shakti is marching shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts to realize our dreams of a 'Viksit Assam,' and we are empowering them in their pursuits."
Sarma also conveyed his best wishes on the occasion to all women. He shared a heartwarming video as an ode to women.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier on Wednesday asserted that Assam has become a beacon of economic empowerment for women, with the state government extending financial assistance to at least 25 lakh women under its flagship scheme.
Taking to social media platform X, CM Sarma wrote, "With several innovative and transformative schemes, Assam stands as a beacon for the economic empowerment of women."
"Today I reviewed the roadmap to distribute financial assistance to over 25 lakh women micro-entrepreneurs under the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan. The distribution program will begin in Behali and then move across the state," he added.
