DIBRUGARH: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a meeting with the PWD (B) Department at Lok Sewa Bhawan on Friday to review the progress of several key infrastructure projects across the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister assessed the status of major ongoing projects, including the indoor stadium and playground development at GMCH, co-district commissioners' offices, Gauhati High Court building in Guwahati, FIFA-standard football ground at Nehru Stadium, boundary wall and external road construction for AEC in Jalukbari, and Khanikar Stadium in Dibrugarh. He stressed the importance of timely completion of these projects to enhance the state's infrastructure and promote overall development.
Additionally, CM Sarma also held discussions via video conferencing with Dibrugarh District Commissioner Bikram Kairi (IAS) regarding the proposed Assembly and MLA Hostel in Dibrugarh. The Assam CM directed the district administration to expedite the allotment of land for the project, which will play a crucial role in the government’s vision to transform Dibrugarh into Assam’s second capital.
He had earlier announced the plan to build an Assembly complex in Dibrugarh during the Republic Day celebrations this year. The complex is expected to be ready by 2027, which will help in spreading administrative activities and boosting the region’s growth.
