TOKYO: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with Kazuya Nakajo, Executive Vice President of JETRO, during his visit to Japan.
The discussion centered on enhancing trade relations and leveraging JETRO’s expertise to promote collaboration between Japan and Assam in trade, commerce, and industry. The meeting aimed at fostering mutual growth and strengthening economic ties.
During the visit, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also met with Koga Yuichiro, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Government of Japan, during his visit to Japan for the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit.
In the meeting, Sarma discussed Assam’s readiness to establish a dedicated business park for Japanese firms. He also requested the Japanese government to set up testing centres for the Technical Intern Training and Specified Skill Workers programs, facilitating greater opportunities for Assam’s youth.
Additionally, Chief Minister Sarma, during his visit to South Korea highlighted Assam’s strategic advantages and policy support, inviting South Korean industrialists to explore investment opportunities. He emphasized the Centre’s focus on the Northeast and the commitment of top Indian business houses to boost industrial growth in the region.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also met with a minister and several business tycoons in Seoul to discuss making Assam a global semiconductor and renewable energy hub. Emphasizing South Korea's expertise in semiconductors, Sarma highlighted the potential collaboration to develop a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem in Assam.
