MANKACHAR: The death of the young woman has triggered an uproar in the South Salmara- Mankachar District of the state. While the victim’s husband’s family called it a case of suicide, her family alleged that it was a case of murder and not suicide. The incident led to the accumulation of huge crowds in the locality.
The incident took place in the Kothalbari village under the Mankachar police station. The victim identified as 28-year-old Sheela Begum, was reportedly found dead hanging from the ceiling with a noose around her neck. The news about the incident soon spread in the locality and when the relatives of the victims came to know about the incident, they alleged that the husband’s family had murdered her, and made the whole incident look like it was a suicide.
The victim belonged to Gajarikandi village of Kukurmara and was married to Iyanur Islam. The family members of the victim mentioned that her husband and his family had been physically and mentally torturing her since their marriage.
They also alleged that there were injury marks on several parts of the victim’s body And a case was filed at the Manchar Police Station regarding the incident by her relatives. The District Magistrate accompanied by a team from the Mankachar Police Staion arrived at the location and took stock of the situation. They also continued with the investigation into the incident and brought in the husband of the victim for questioning.
Meanwhile, the police mentioned that the body would be sent to the Dhubri Medical College and Hospital for a formal autopsy and added that the autopsy report should shed light on the incident.
Previously land and property-related conflicts led to serious fights, which claimed the lives of two people in the Darrang district of Assam. Many more people were injured in this fight and shifted to a hospital on Tuesday. According to local reports, the incident took place in the Janata Nagar locality of Kharupetia. The incident started with a large group of people forcefully trying to lay their claims on a plot of land belonging to the sons of one late Sinaruddin. There is a motor garage in the plot of land on which the gang laid their claims.
