GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Elementary Education (DEE) Assam has started the recruitment process for 4,500 school teachers across the state. There are openings for both Lower Primary and Upper Primary schools. Eligible candidates can apply online at dee.assam.gov.in before the deadline, which is March 31, 2025.
Out of the 4,500 total vacancies, 2,900 are for Assistant Teachers in Lower Primary schools, while 1,600 positions are available in Upper Primary schools, including Assistant Teachers, Science Teachers, and Hindi Teachers. Separate merit lists will be published for each district and category.
Candidates must have passed the Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (ATET) or the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), depending on the position they are applying for—Lower Primary or Upper Primary teaching roles. Additionally, candidates must have one of the selected languages in CTET or ATET that aligns with the medium of instruction at their desired school.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and not older than 40 years as of January 1, 2025. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates from reserved categories according to government regulations. Candidates with more than two living children, born on or after January 1, 2021, are ineligible for recruitment, regardless of whether the children are from the same or different partners.
The selection will be based on merit, which will consider the candidates’ marks in Higher Secondary (or equivalent) exams, graduation, a Diploma in Education, and their performance in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
