Assam: Drishyapat Sivasagar Presents ‘Chanakya’s Oath’ in its First Anniversary

In celebration of its first anniversary, Drishyapat Sivasagar, an emerging socio-cultural organization in Sivasagar, organized the Mahurat for the play ‘Chanakya’s Oath'

SIVASAGAR: In celebration of its first anniversary, Drishyapat Sivasagar, an emerging socio-cultural organization in Sivasagar, organized the Mahurat for the play ‘Chanakya’s Oath’, written by renowned Assamese playwright Dr Moni Pathak. This play, dedicated to the memory of the late Achyut Bhattacharjya, a social worker of Sivasagar, will be performed at the auditorium of Hindu Dharma Sabha Namghar in Amolapatty, Sivasagar.

The event saw the presence of several distinguished guests, including Dr Prakash Kotoky, former principal of Sibsagar College; Dr Protim Sharma, principal of Sibsagar Girls’ College; senior drama director Prasanta Sharma; and social workers Arabinda Baruah along with Anjan Kumar Baruah, Ranta Moni Sharma, and Bishwa Khanikar, who participated in lighting the ceremonial lamp to mark the occasion. Senior citizen and adviser of Natya Sanmilan, Sivasagar Branch, Ananga Mohan Sharma also initiated the auspicious ceremony of Akhara.

Dr Moni Pathak, the playwright, shared that ‘Chanakya’s Oath’ is the first Assamese play exploring Chanakya’s principles and their enduring relevance in today’s society. Dr Pathak and Rupam Bezbaruah, the director, have worked together to present the play in a way that adds a fresh dimension to its storytelling and direction.

The play will feature many talented young actors and actresses, alongside the artists of Drishyapat Sivasagar. It is scheduled to be staged on May 4, in association with Hindu Dharma Sabha Namghar, as announced by Abhinav Dev Kashyap, Secretary of Drishyapat Sibsagar.
