Assam: Drivers To Be Taught English For Getting Better Jobs Abroad

This initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities for the youth of Assam in India as well as abroad by equipping them with essential skills.

BISWANATH: An Automatic Driving Testing Station has been launched in Assam's Biswanath district and this was announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

This new initiative intends to provide professional training in driving to young boys and girls. The trainees need not visit the District Transport Office (DTO) as they will directly get their licenses under this scheme after completion of their training.

In addition to it, the trainee drivers will also be taught Hindi and English to improve their communication skills so that their chances of employment increases outside Assam.

CM Sarma, while speaking at a public meeting, underlined the financial perks that skilled driving jobs abroad has to offer.

Emphasizing the global demand for professional drivers, the Assam CM said that drivers earning around Rs. 6,000 in Assam can earn up to Rs. 1.5 lakhs in driving jobs abroad.

He also shared some valuable insights from his visit to Japan where the employment prospects for Assam’s youth were discussed.

CM Sarma revealed that during his visit to Japan, the government affirmed that the youngsters of Assam will be brought to Japan within the next 5-6 years, where they will get a handsome salary of Rs. 1.5 - 2 lakhs.

This initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities for the youth of Assam in India as well as abroad by equipping them with essential skills required to survive in the global competitive job market.
