GUWAHATI: In the past 24 hours at least three Assam government officials including one DTO of Kokrajhar Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and Kharupetia Circle officer (CL) and his personal security officer (PSO) constable were arrested on money laundering case and for taking bribe allegedly.
As per report, the police of Kokrajhr on Wednesday arrested Sameswar Brahma Muchahary (54) who is serving as DTO Kokrajhar Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in an alleged money laundering case.
During the raid on his residence, the police seized Rs 36 lakh from his possession.
Meanwhile, in another raid, Darrang police has caught Achyut Dutta serving as Kharupetia Circle officer (CL) Achyut Dutta and his personal security officer (PSO) constable Diganta Baruah, red handed for accepting bribe of Rs 10, 000.
According to reports, the officials of the anti-corruption cell had launched operations after a complaint lodged by Surab Ali of Dhula on Wednesday.
The ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh on his twitter wrote, "Today, @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red-handed & arrested Const Diganta Baruah PSO to Inspector Achyut Dutta CI Kharupetia Darrang district after he accepted a bribe from the complainant for giving relief in a criminal case. PSO and CI are being arrested."
Earlier, A team from the Assam Directorate Vigilance and Anti Corruption on Tuesday trapped red-handed and arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in the Lakhimpur district while he was accepting a bribe, a police official said. The ASI was identified as Dambarudhar Dutta of Silonibari Out Post in Lakhimpur. He was arrested after he accepted a bribe from the complainant for giving him and his family relief in a criminal case, Special DGP Assam GP Singh informed.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
