DIBRUGARH: In a significant move, the Dibrugarh University Officers’ Association (DUOA) organised a special felicitation programme, 'Utsahan', on August 8 to honour the wards of casual and temporary employees of the university who excelled in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations this year.

These students have demonstrated exceptional academic performance despite facing numerous challenges. DUOA recognised their efforts by presenting them with certificates of appreciation and one-time financial assistance to support their future educational pursuits. In a thoughtful gesture, the guardians of these students were also honoured with a traditional Assamese Gamocha, acknowledging their silent support and sacrifices.

The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jiten Hazarika, and Registrar Paramananda Sonowal. Their inspiring presence and words of encouragement added warmth and motivation to the occasion.

The programme highlighted DUOA’s commitment to inclusivity and its efforts to motivate the university community by recognising perseverance, hard work, and determination.

Similarly, a special felicitation programme was held last month in July at the Jamartal playground in Mirza by Sammilit Janakalyan Mancha, a local non-governmental organisation, to honour students who passed the HSLC and Higher Secondary exams with first division from the greater Palasbari area in Kamrup district.

Attending the programme as chief guest, senior journalist Zarir Hussain addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to aim high with determination and self-belief. “Today’s students are lucky to have access to the world through mobile phones. Nothing is impossible with the right mindset,” he said.
