Assam: Ex-Servicemen Reunion Rally Held In Boko To Focus On Grievances And Welfare Initiatives

A reunion rally for Ex-Servicemen in Boko addressed welfare issues, with Brig. Choudhury emphasizing support programs and upcoming job fairs, while honoring veterans and their families.

BOKO: A reunion rally for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) was held at Nagopara, Boko, Kamrup (Assam) on February 4, 2025, which united 126 veterans, including a visually impaired participant, along with 86 widows and 104 wives and dependents. The event sought to bring all the issues pertaining to pensions, banking, and documentation under one roof.

Brigadier Polash Choudhury, SM (Retd.), Director of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, served as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Col. Padmalochan Barman (Retd.), Welfare Officer of the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Kamrup (M), and other officials. The rally also made a warm reception to Aziruddin Ahmed, representative from the BDO, Boko Circle and Pushpalata Boro, who is the wife of 1971 War Veteran Late Sub. Dadhi Ram Boro.

Col. Barman highlighted several key welfare initiatives including the rehabilitation schemes of the Ex-Servicemen, government welfare programs, upgradations of pension grievance redressal mechanisms, and medical benefits under the ECHS. He also announced a Job Fair scheduled to take place on February 7 at Brahmaputra Hall, Narangi Army Camp.

Brig. Choudhury lauded the veterans and their families for their sacrifices and asked them to take an active part in social and nation-building activities. The function concluded by felicitations of Veer Naris, orphans, disabled dependents, and distinguished veterans saluting their invaluable contribution towards the nation. It was an occasion which bred camaraderie and further strengthened commitment towards the welfare and empowerment of the Ex-Servicemen community.
