GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident in the Nagaon district of Assam, all four members of the family allegedly tried to kill themselves at one time by consuming poison.
The family is titled Rajbonshi residing in Assam's Nagaon as informed by sources.
The whole family together consumed poison to end their life but they survived as police reached the spot on time.
According to reports the primary bread earner of the family is a daily wage worker while other members of the family who attempted suicide include his wife and two children.
Three of the 4 family members were immediately sent for medical care and were admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
All three are said to be in critical condition and at present, they are receiving proper medical treatment under the observation of doctors.
Police got informed about the incident and investigated the issue. As per the preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that the family members were facing certain family issues because of which they attempted to end their lives.
However, there is no confirmation about the exact reason for attempting suicide by the family as further investigation is going on.
Many such incidents of suicide attempt are reported in a huge number in the Nagaon district of Assam and in the entire state where people tries to kill themselves for certain reasons like a financial problem, family problems and others.
Earlier in a similar incident in Nagaon, a woman allegedly attempted to kill herself by consuming poison after killing her 2 children. The woman threw her five-year-old daughter near Kolong River and gave pesticides to her nine-year-old son.
As the number of suicide cases has been increasing, mental health awareness programmes have become very crucial so that people learn to deal with their situation instead of ending their life.
