Assam: Fire Destroys Homes in Jaleswar on Eid, Family Left Devastated

GOALPARA: In a tragic incident, a devastating fire reduced the homes and belongings of a family to ashes in Katarihara village of Jaleswar during the joyous celebrations of Eid. The incident took place at the residence of Abdul Awal, who had just returned after offering the sacred Eid prayers.

The massive fire broke out in the house of Abdul Awal, completely destroying two homes, a general store, cash worth several lakhs, and crucial documents, as per reports. The estimated loss is said to be around ten lakh rupees.

An electric short circuit is suspected to be the reason behind the cause of the fire. Acting swiftly, the villagers helped prevent further damage by extinguishing the flames. Locals claim that despite multiple emergency calls, firefighters failed to arrive at the scene. However, allegations have surfaced against the Lakhipur fire department.

The electricity department was blamed for negligence by the residents, holding them responsible for the tragic incident. Abdul Awal and his family lost everything on the very day of Eid-ul-Fitr due to the devastating fire, leaving them in despair. The day of joy and celebration turned into a day of grief and loss for the affected family due to the unfortunate incident.
