PATHSALA: A major fire broke out close to the 77th Biannual Session of the Asom Sahitya Sabha on the second day of the prestigious event, alarming many in attendance. The incident took place at a nearby store named "Amish," which was swiftly destroyed by the blaze.
While firefighters made efforts to contain the fire, witnesses reported chaotic scenes as people rushed to safety. Despite their prompt action, the shop was completely destroyed in a matter of minutes by the inferno. Authorities are presently looking into the cause of the incident, and no casualties have been reported.
Meanwhile, the 77th Biennial Asam Sahitya Sabha: Pathsala-Bajali Session was inaugurated yesterday with the unveiling of its prestigious entrance gate. The symbolic gateway to Assamese literature and culture was unveiled by Krishna Roy, a distinguished figure from Pathsala and recipient of the Assam Saurav Award.
Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Assam’s Cabinet Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Judicial, Tourism, and General Administration, attended the event and highlighted its importance in promoting Assamese heritage.
Expressing his pride, he shared on X: “A Grand Literary Celebration Begins! The prestigious entrance gate of the 77th Biennial Asam Sahitya Sabha: Pathsala-Bajali Session has been inaugurated! Honored to have Pathsala’s Pride & Assam Saurav Award recipient Shri Krishna Roy unveil this symbolic gateway to literature and culture.”
