GUWAHATI: In the evening of February 27, a fire that started at a market place in Dhubri, completely destroyed at least seven establishments.

Along with demolishing stores, the fire that started in the Gauripur market destroyed products worth Rs 1 lakh. Although the exact cause of the fire is yet unknown, the locals believe that some miscreants may have started it by stealing valuables.

The fire was so severe that at least a few stores were completely destroyed. In a statement to the media, one of the store owners said, "We are suspecting that some had done it purposefully, as after the loss in the fire, the remaining goods in the shops are also missing."

Later, with the assistance of local people, the fire brigade was able to put out the fire. The local populace asked the administration to conduct an investigation into the situation and to offer assistance.

Another identical occurrence occurred on February 27 at Mao Market in Kohima, the capital of Nagaland, at around 4 o'clock. The fire may have started as a result of a short circuit.

The Bethel hospital is close to the Mao market, one of Kohima's largest marketplaces, which caught fire and terrified both shoppers and market vendors.

At least four fire fighters have been dispatched right away to put out the fire. Rupin Sharma, the DGP for Nagaland, arrived on the scene as soon as he was informed of the incident to assess the situation.

On Saturday, a significant fire broke out at the Sainik School Imphal in Manipur, resulting in losses of more than Rs 60 lakh. According to accounts, at around 12.30 p.m., flames from a nearby parched paddy field spread to the school and started a fire.

Although there were no injuries, Raman House, a boys' dormitory with room for about 200 students, was severely damaged by the fire. The locals, the Manipur Police, the Assam Rifles, and the state fire service responded quickly to put out the fires.
