As main road of the town was already badly inundated and vehicles could not ply, this alternative route via Ramnagar ISBT was the only road to move to Silchar Medical college as well as to move out from the town towards Karimganj, Hailakandi and Guwahati. Inundation of Ramnagar area virtually means the town is going to be marooned practically.

The sleepless night rolled on to a newer day with the news of a dead body found in Swamiji Road in Itkhola area. Sunil Deb, 51, was drowned under flood water. NDRF later recovered the body.

Meanwhile, a couple of incidence of dacoity were reported from various parts of the town. People of Madhurbond alleged, a group dacoits were seen on three boats carrying a number of two wheelers to the other side of the river. On the other hand, Nabamita Bhattacharya of Bilpar area said, on Tuesday midnight a gang of robbers tried to enter their house.

Silchar is fast moving towards a deadly calamity. People's anger and frustration against the administration as a whole and against the public representatives in particular was fast reaching to a point of outburst. Administration had been posting a series of helpline numbers but all calls get unattended. There was no electricity for two days and people could not get their cell phone charged. Mobile connectivity was abnormally erratic.

Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli on Tuesday in a video message requested the people not to panic and assured that relief would distrusted soon. But people from almost all corners of the town alleged that not even packaged drinking water was provided from the administration. In fact, scarcity of drinking water is the most sought after thing in the town which had been submerged for last four days.
