Assam Forest Team Arrests Two Smugglers for Cutting Valuable Sal Trees in Boko

Assam forest team caught two smugglers red-handed while they were cutting valuable Sal trees at Mouman Reserve Forest under Singra Forest Range Office in Kamrup West Division on Friday late night.

Boko: Assam forest team caught two smugglers red-handed while they were cutting valuable Sal trees at Mouman Reserve Forest under Singra Forest Range Office in Kamrup West Division on Friday late night. The forest team was led by Ranger Bhagab Hazarika, who said that they had information about the illegal activities and therefore they ambushed at that place. “While they were cutting trees, we heard sounds and thus we followed them and caught them red-handed. Equipment was also recovered which is used for cutting trees,” added Ranger Hazarika. Arrested two smugglers are Moon Rabha (35 years) from Mouman village and Bimal Rabha (25 years) from Bhogdabari village in Boko. According to the Hazarika a case has been registered against them and further investigations are going on. Ranger Hazarika emphasized that during the festive seasons including Bihu, New Year celebration and in the winter season, smugglers cut trees, making charcoal. Therefore the forest department is constantly patrolling in the forest areas.
