Assam: Foundation day of Gaurisagar senior citizens’ body observed

GAURISAGAR: "Seniority is not measured by retirement from service. Seniors must establish ideals and policies to maintain guardians in the society," stated Tuwaram Khanikar, noted orator and former professor, SMD College, Charing, while participating as an appointed speaker in the open session of the 10th foundation day of Gaurisagar Senior Citizens Forum held at Bir Chilarai Bhawan, Khanakhokora, Gaurisagar in Sivasagar District on Saturday.

Addressing the public, veteran Educationist Khanikar said that the younger generation will imitate the older ones and the society will move forward on the right path with guardianship towards society. He added that seniors will do their best to integrate into society by acquiring the ability to correct themselves.

The open session was presided over by Dr Soneswar Bora, President, Gaurisagar Senior Citizens Forum. The objective of the meeting was explained by Thanu Bharali, Secretary, Gaurisagar Senior Citizen Forum. The meeting was inaugurated by Sabharam Saud, former headmaster, Dikhowmukh Janajati High School. The other dignitaries who attended the meeting were Dilip Bordoloi, Secretary, Sivasagar District Senior Citizens Association, Hiren Kumar Neog, Headmaster, Khanakhokora High School, and others.

Earlier, Akanksha Taye, a student of class IX of Khanakhokora High School, delivered the welcome speech to the guests and gathering on behalf of the school fraternity. In the morning hours, lighting of lamp, flag hoisting, and smriti tarpan functions were performed by Social Worker Amieo Kakoty, Dr Soneswar Borah, and Mohi Kanta Nath.
