Assam: Founder Principal of Darrang Academy, Meera Kumari Deka, Passes Away

Meera Kumari Deka (55), the founder principal of Darrang Academy, a leading private educational institution in Mangaldai, passed away at her residence.

MANGALDAI: Meera Kumari Deka (55), the founder principal of Darrang Academy, a leading private educational institution in Mangaldai, passed away at her residence at 6:20pm on Sunday.

A daughter of Rupeshwar Deka and Raju Bala Deka of Chapai Gadhiapara village near Mangaldai, Meera Kumari Deka had been bedridden for some time due to a serious illness.

A condolence meeting was held today at her residence in Gadhiapara, conducted by journalist Ganesh Dutta. During the event, Dr. Bijoy Kumar Sharma, professor at Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva University, Ramesh Saharia, secretary of Chapai Youth Welfare Centre, and Daisy Bharadwaj, spokesperson of Darrang Academy, among others, delivered brief speeches highlighting the life and contributions of the soft-spoken and dignified educator.

Her last rites were performed later with a funeral procession. At the time of her death, she is survived by her mother, two brothers, one sister, and several other relatives.
