BONGAIGAON: The district of Bongaigaon in Assam has installed four loop bridges for the safe crossing of Golden Langurs across busy roadways in a significant move towards wildlife conservation. This helps reduce the danger that these endangered primates encounter as they roam through their habitats, which have been increasingly threatened by man-made infrastructure.
The bridges act as vital wildlife corridors that enable Golden Langurs to cross busy highways without the risk of accidents. Strategically placed in areas where the primates are frequently spotted, these structures ensure that they can access essential resources while avoiding dangerous encounters with vehicles.
Local wildlife authorities have emphasized that such infrastructure will play a very important role in human-wildlife coexistence. The establishment of these bridges will not only minimize the loss of Golden Langurs but also educate people to respect natural habitats through sustainable living.
This project reflects an ever-growing commitment towards wildlife conservation in the region. It displays innovative ways that can reduce human-wildlife conflicts successfully. This precedes a path for the future of such similar initiatives that Bongaigaon has established.
