Assam: Ganja and Gold Seized at New Bongaigaon Railway Station

In two separate operations at New Bongaigaon railway station, the Government Railway Police (GRP), led by IC Sanjib Choudhury, seized 32.46 kg of ganja and 348 grams of gold on Friday.

BONGAIGAON: In two separate operations at New Bongaigaon railway station, the Government Railway Police (GRP), led by IC Sanjib Choudhury, seized 32.46 kg of ganja and 348 grams of gold on Friday.

In the first incident, during routine checking at Platform No. 1 around 2.10 pm, GRP intercepted Dhanush Thampan (23 years), son of Thampan, of Karthika Pada North, Karunagappally, Kollam, Kerala. He was carrying three trolley bags. A search led to the recovery of six packets of ganja weighing 32.46 kg gross, including packing material. An Apple iPhone 13, Aadhaar Card, and a train ticket from New Bongaigaon to New Jalpaiguri were also recovered.

In another operation, GRP and Customs, Dhubri, acting on source information, searched Coach B-13 of New Delhi Rajdhani Express (Train No. 20503) after it arrived at New Bongaigaon at 9.46 am. They detained Ravindra Prajapat (42 years), son of Gopi Kishan Prajapat, of Sardarpura, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Three pieces of suspected gold weighing approximately 348 grams were recovered from him and handed over to Customs, Dhubri, for legal action.
