PALASBARI: The department of Computer Science and Engineering of Girijananda Chowdhury University successfully hosted a two-day workshop on “Artificial Intelligence—Research Perspective in Multi-disciplinary Fields” sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, under the Scheme of AICTE-Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages from November 29 to November 30.

The workshop focused on the research perspective of artificial intelligence in various fields. This workshop brought together researchers, academicians, and students to discuss the integration of artificial intelligence in multidisciplinary fields. The use of Assamese as the medium of instruction in the workshop highlighted the importance of promoting Indian languages in cutting-edge technology education. Jasoda Ranjan Das, President of the SSA Society, delivered a heartfelt welcome address, officially marking the beginning of the session.

Prof. Jayanta Deka, Chancellor, emphasized the pivotal role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in transforming various sectors, including society and healthcare.

The workshop featured an array of insightful sessions spread across two days. In day 1, Prof. Ajanta Kakoti Mahanta from Gauhati University delivered the opening session on the “History of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)” followed by a session delivered by Prof. Dhruba Kumar Bhattacharjya from Tezpur University on the topic “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Smart Healthcare Solution: A Sustainable Approach.”.

The third session was presented by Siddhartha Bhuyan from NESAC on “AI for Remote Sensing in Earth Observation.” The first day concluded with a session by Dr. Ridip Dev Choudhury from KKHSOU on the topic “Generative AI.”.

In the second day, the session began with Prof. Samarjeet Borah from Sikkim Manipal University discussing “The Future of AI: Opportunities and Challenges,” followed by a session delivered by Dr. Sanjib Kr. Kalita from Gauhati University on “Spoken Language Processing Using AI—Practical Approach.” The 7th session was conducted by Dr. ChandanJyoti Kumar from Cotton University on “Data Management, Analytics, and Innovation.” The workshop concluded with Prof. Minakshi Gogoii from Girijananda Chowdhury University presenting a practical session on “Data Analytics—A Practical Approach.”.
