GUWAHATI: The Assam government revised its list of official holidays for the year 2025. The government announced a change in eight dates and released the updated schedule by the General Administration Department, replacing the holidays previously set for the year. The revised list is going to affect numerous government sectors and public observances.
These changes will be part of the efforts by the state to have a more accurate holiday calendar that provides clarity to government employees and citizens in advance. It is going to ease administrative processes and allow for better planning. The new dates are going to apply to all departments, affecting schools, government offices, and public institutions.
The updated dates of the various festivals include 1st May as the date of May Day, Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, and Motak Raja Swargadeo Sarvananda's Day on 24th May. On 26th May, Tithi of Hari Dev will be followed by the Abhirbhav Tithi of Sri Bhubaneswar Sadhu Thakur on 23rd October. The festival of Kuki Chavang Kut has been set for 1st November, and Wangala Festival for 7th November. Lastly, Bir Raghav Moran Divas comes on 19th November. These updates ensure consistency for the year's key observances.
