Assam: Government employees of National Pension System stage protest

Along with the rest of the state, the NPS (National Pension System) employees of the greater Naduar area too joined hands in the pen-down programme undertaken by the All Assam NPS Employees’ Association on Wednesday.

JAMUGURIHAT:Along with the rest of the state, the NPS (National Pension System) employees of the greater Naduar area too joined hands in the pen-down programme undertaken by the All Assam NPS Employees’ Association on Wednesday.

More than 100 NPS employees, including teachers and other employees of various government departments, joined the demonstration here at Jamugurihat on Wednesday. The NPS employees under Jamuguri regional committee of NPS association assembled in front of the office of the Naduar Development Block, Jamugurihat and shouted slogans demanding cancellation of NPS and restoration of OPS (Old Pension Scheme).

Later the demonstrators handed over a charter of demands to the Chief Minister through the BDO of Naduar Development Block. The demonstration was attended by Ranjit Borthakur, president of All Assam United Teachers’ Association, Chandan Acharya, Jyoti Hazarika and Jayanta Das, office bearers of Sonitpur district NPS Association and JamuguriRegional NPS Association, among others.
