This leave is specifically granted to delegates who are government employees, enabling them to attend the event scheduled from January 31 to February 4, 2025, at Pathshala in Bajali District.

As per an official notification from the state government, government employees serving as delegates of the Assam Sahitya Sabha will be granted leave from January 31 to February 4, 2025. However, this is contingent on the completion of their official duties or prior arrangements being made for their responsibilities.

The notification further specifies that delegates engaged in the ongoing Panchayat and Rural Development (PRI) elections or the implementation of any flagship government program must obtain prior approval from the relevant authorities before availing the leave.

Meanwhile, the Assam Government has decided to observe May 13 every year as the ‘Day against Superstitious Beliefs.’ May 13 is the day when renowned social reformer Birubala Rabha passed away in 2024. The decision has been taken to recognize the yeoman’s services rendered by Birubala Rabha.

The Department of Women and Child Development issued a notification to this effect. The notification has guidelines stating the rules and responsibilities of various departments.

The objective for commemoration of the day is to create awareness against superstitious beliefs harmful to society and to promote scientific literacy, rational thinking, and critical decision-making through a coordinated approach.
