Assam Government Makes New Guidelines for a Systematic Durga Puja Hopping Experience

Assam Government has come up with new guidelines for the people of the state to make the forthcoming Durga puja celebrations a peaceful and memorably joyful event. The guidelines announced by the Development Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya are going to make the puja and pandal hopping experiences of the people in Guwahati city and other states an experience to cherish.

However, not only for the common people of the state, there are guidelines to be obeyed by the administration as well which will jointly add to make the celebrations successful. The administration is directed to collect the idols post-immersion in the water body.

There are particular rules and regulations to be followed by the vehicles and these rules are applicable to the vehicles of the VVIP’s too. None of the vehicles will be allowed to enter into the big puja pandals. Moreover, there will be new parking spots for the Puja days. People will be allowed to park their vehicles in the Fancy Bazar Old Central Jail premise and Pan Bazar Multi parking which will be open for parking till Kali Puja.

The guidelines also ask the administration to be strict about the maintenance of traffic rules and regulations during the Puja. It also directs the administrations to install CC cameras at all the Puja Mandaps in Guwahati and walking zones on the Puja Mandaps. As CCTV footage can help the administration in resolving crime scenes and catch the culprits of any sort, its installation is a must.

The government also asks to practice a restraint over load shedding during the Puja. It asks the Electricity Department to provide 24 hours of electricity. The state government will also fix particular routes and times for the immersion of Durga idols and the organisers will have to abide by these.

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation too will have to follow the guidelines according to which it will dump garbage from the mandap’s twice a day during the Puja Days.
