Guwahati: As many as 3,743 teacher posts will be provincialized in the first phase as a part of the Assam Government's initiative to provincialize educational institutions, reports said.
While the secondary education department has got the approval to provincialize 355 new schools and 2812 posts of teachers, the higher education department has got the approval for the provincialization of 931 posts, which will include principals, assistant professors, as well as tutors.
It is to be noted that 241 of the posts to be provincialized are from 27 new colleges. On the other hand, 690 posts are from already provincialized colleges.
Although the Government had initially announced that the list would be notified on August 15, the date has now been pushed back to August 20./
"Instead 15th August, we will notify the first phase of school /college provincialisation on 20th August 2020", the state education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, informing about the development. wrote on Twitter.
It had been earlier announced that with effect from January 1, 2020, the Assam Government shall provincialize 197 High School, 9 Higher Secondary and 149 Junior College or Senior Secondary under the Directorate of Secondary Education. "The Assam Government is going to provincialize several schools, colleges, and posts of teachers soon", the minister said at a recent press conference.
The Minister, at the press conference, informed that the first list of such schools would be announced on August 15. "The second list will be published in October, but it will be effective from January 1", the Minister further informed.
Sarma had informed that the first list includes 355 High Schools, junior colleges, 3,359 teachers under the directorate of senior secondary, 30 colleges, 931 college teachers, including the "leftover teachers."
