GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the Annual Women Achievers' Award ceremony organized by the Northeast Women’s Organization of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at a hotel in Guwahati yesterday.
During the ceremony, Governor Acharya extended his best wishes to all the women associated with FICCI, appreciating their remarkable contributions to society. He highlighted the importance of women empowerment, underscoring India's rich heritage and the progress made towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Governor praised the exceptional talents of women from the northeastern region, citing inspiring figures such as boxer Lovlina Borgohain and Mary Kom, athlete Hima Das and "Hargila Baideu" Purnima Devi Barman and others.
He stressed the importance of women's participation in key sectors such as management, environmental protection and inclusive economic and social development.
He also commended the central and state government's initiatives to promote women entrepreneurship. He acknowledged the significant role of women entrepreneurs in driving the nation's economy, noting that India is home to over eight million women entrepreneurs.
The Governor congratulated all the award winners and encouraged them to continue contributing to the progress and development of the nation.
It may be noted that the FLO Women Achievers' Award 2025 was conferred upon several distinguished women for their outstanding contributions in various fields.
Baryl Vanneihsangi from Mizoram, the youngest MLA, was recognized for her remarkable political achievement. Mangka Mayanglambam from Manipur, a renowned folk singer, was honored for her contribution to preserving cultural heritage.
Moirangthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur was recognized for being an accomplished entrepreneur. Minakshi Chetia from Assam received the award for her impactful work as a social worker under the ASHA program and Meenakshi Das from Assam was celebrated for her inspiring achievements as a biker.
Additionally, the FLO Trailblazer Awards 2025 celebrated the achievements of Nilakshi R. Sarma for her excellence in content creation, Payal Aggarwal Jain for her visionary entrepreneurship, Abhishruti Bezbaruah as a cultural icon, Barsha Rani as the Pride of Assam, and Lovlina Borgohain for her outstanding accomplishments in sports.
FICCI FLO, the women's wing of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), was established to encourage women to explore their potential as entrepreneurs, business leaders, and professionals, while also contributing to social welfare and community development.
