GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Friday reaffirmed India’s rich heritage as a land of knowledge, emphasizing its significant contributions to global wisdom.

While inagurating the three-day Bharat Bodh conclave in Guwahati, Acharya said that while many parts of the world were in darkness, India’s sages and scholars guided civilization with their wisdom and strong values.

Describing Bharat Bodh as more than just a concept, the Governor called it a deep and immersive experience that reflects India’s vast cultural legacy. Organized by prestigious institutions such as JNU, the conclave aims to foster discussions on India’s civilization, culture, education, economy, history, and scientific achievements.

Acharya encouraged attendees to view India through an indigenous perspective, appreciating its cultural heritage through intellectual exchanges, artistic performances, and exhibitions. He pointed out that interpreting India through a Western lens has often led to misconceptions about its identity, yet the country’s essence remains intact despite historical challenges.

The Governor emphasized that ancient learning centers like Takshashila and Nalanda once attracted scholars from around the world. He said the Bharat Bodh conclave is a great platform to reflect on India’s historical role in sharing knowledge and wisdom globally.

Meanwhile, earlier last month, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya had inaugurated the three-day ‘Samutkarsh Mahashivir 2025,’ organized by Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra at Sarusajai Stadium on January 29.

In his inaugural address, Governor Acharya had stated, “Education is the essence of life. It not only shapes an individual's future but also plays a vital role in the nation's progress. I believe education also aims to create responsible citizens.”
