According to reports, two Boleros, one unregistered and the other with registration number AS03AK8070 travelling from Nagaland towards Tinsukia on NH61 via Haluwating, were carrying heroin in 65 soap boxes hidden in the secret chambers of the vehicles. Police seized the Boleros and held four persons in connection with smuggling. The NH61 from Kahima to Jhanji has now become a corridor for illegal goods. The NH61, which connects Myanmar, Manipur, and Nagaland, is allegedly used for smuggling drugs, liquor, weapons, cannabis, and sugarcane.
