Assam: Illegal fuel racket busted in Sonitpur

TEZPUR: In a major breakthrough, Sonitpur Police uncovered an illegal fuel operation following a complaint received at Chariduwar Police Station on April 27. The complaint reported that an oil tanker, filled with unauthorized HSD (High-Speed Diesel) fuel, was being concealed at the Shree Ram Fuel Station in Dalong Basti, Chariduwar in Sonitpur district. The tanker bore registration number AS01LC1950, officials confirmed.

During further investigation, another oil tanker was seized from the Nayara Petrol Pump in Rangapara. This vehicle bore registration number AS01NC2742. In connection with the case, Chariduwar PS Case No. 61/25 was registered. One of the suspects, Himangshu Thakur, who had been absconding, later appeared before authorities with anticipatory bail. Additionally, Ram Bahadur Sonar of Garmora village was arrested by Sonitpur Police during the course of the investigation.
