Assam: Livestock immunization programme held at Raimona National Park fringe village

KALAIGAON: The Forest Department of Wildlife Trust India, in collaboration with the Assam Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, has organized a livestock immunization programme at the fringe village of Raimona National Park on Friday. Several officials, like Dr. Daoharu Baro, Nazrul Islam from the Wildlife Trust of India, Dr. Pankaj Chakraborty, Dr Subham Das, Dibya Jyoti Das, and Heremdao Basumatary from Gossaigaon State Veterinary Dispensary, took part in this immunization programme along with forest officials from Sanfan Range. According to Dr. Daoharu Baro, the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary department has been trying to prevent the disease of livestock with the top priority in this area where they give vaccines to the animals frequently every year.

Meanwhile, Dr Chakraborty told the livestock farmers about the importance of vaccination for animals in the fringe areas to prevent the spread of diseases that could potentially affect the wild animals. "Such vaccination programs should be held annually with regular health assessments for the animals," he added. The event was held under the guidance of Mr. Bhanu Sinha, DFO of Kachugaon Forest Division of Raimona National Park.
