Assam: Man Abducted, Murdered In Dima Hasao; Suspects Attempt To Stage Suicide

In a shocking incident in Dima Hasao, Assam, a man was allegedly murdered, with the perpetrators reportedly attempting to stage the crime as a suicide, on Friday.

UMRANGSO: In a shocking incident in Dima Hasao, Assam, a man was allegedly murdered, with the perpetrators reportedly attempting to stage the crime as a suicide, on Friday.

Authorities identified the victim as Kaniya Terang, who was abducted and brutally killed. His body was later discovered hanging from a tree, suggesting an effort to disguise the murder as a suicide.

The tragic event unfolded in Langmeklu village, under the jurisdiction of Umrangso police station. Reports indicate that Terang’s body was found on December 22 at approximately 10 pm, bearing clear signs of torture and injury.

Following the discovery, police launched an investigation after the victim's family filed a formal complaint.

Urging the government to ensure justice, the family called for a comprehensive investigation and strict punishment for those involved.

The police are actively examining the case. The victim's body has been sent to Haflong Civil Hospital for an autopsy, and more information is expected as the investigation progresses.

Earlier, a railway contractor had been abducted and murdered in a tragic incident in Assam's Karbi Anglong district. The incident occurred in Borlangpher, where the victim, identified as Ratan Dutta, was kidnapped on the night of December 19. After an extensive search by police, his body was found on December 25 in the remote Daldali forest.

Authorities initially suspected the involvement of surrendered militants from the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA). Following a detailed investigation, six individuals were arrested, including Sanasing, a former DNLA militant.
